OWNER FIRES JOE PHILBIN! Speculation had been running rampant since this Sunday's game and loss to the New York Jets. Given the lofty expectations placed on the team this year, the quick action by the owner was warranted, if not somewhat of a surprise coming this soon. There was talk that perhaps defensive coach, Kevin Coyle would be the one to go first. Apparently, Ross felt a more fundamental change was in order.

The Campbell selection perhaps has to do with the fact that he and Tannehill both played for Texas A&M. Perhaps Ross might have considered that getting direction from another Aggies player would be more palatable and likely not tune out the rest of the season.

Frankly I question the Dolphin's vetting process. How any one or organization could hire this dead fish unemotional technician to be a leader of men is the $64,000 question.
To me Philbin will go down at the worst coach in Miami Dolphins history. Yep, worse than Bumstead, El Camaron, and Geroge Wilson. Hell, at least those 3 guys had a pulse. I'm just disappointed that they didn't fire him on the field right when he was being interviewed after that god awful first half.

After the Batan Death March which commences this Saturday at Tallahassee let's hope that we don't have to wait until after the Duke game and that the Mexican will have the intestinal fortitude to fire this fuck right after the Noles game and name Art Kehoe the interim coach. That would be the most rational decision in this most difficult season of football in the city of Miami.
At least with Kehoe at the helm the Canes won't lose because of a lack of effort or because they were backpedaling on defense on every fucking snap!
Good ridence Basurita and Golden (hopefully) and don't let the door hit you in the ass on he way out.

At 39, Campbell is younger than both Lazor (43) and Coyle (59). Suh and the defense have already tuned out away from Coyle. This as evidenced by Suh wearing sneakers to full practice.

Whatever inspiration Campbell supplies will not be enough. Not when your defensive coordinator is allowing 24.5 points/game and your best player disses him by practicing in his sneakers, and your offensive coordinator runs (check that) uses a playbook that generates just 17 points per game and leaves his most valuable player naked and unprotected against unblocked blitzes.
The first thing Dan Campbell needs to do (if he hasn't already) call whoever he thinks can do a better job at both those posts ASAP. Like before the Tennessee game.

This was the perfect time to give Basurita the boot. We have two weeks until our next game. I don't know how much of the defensive and offensive schemes came down from Basurita or Basurita just sat there and let Coyle and Lazor run the show. If it's the later then Campbell has to let those two fucks walk the plank. What OC stated above is beyond the obvious 17 points scored and 24 points allowed, NOT A WINNING HAND! Certainly not a Brickhouse.

my only reasoning on Lazor is the fact the Dolphins O Line is worst this year than last year and we have no running game and no protection for the QB and that limits the offense a great deal..

a commitment to running the ball, with a proven 1100 yard back who averaged over 5 yards a carry last year, would be a healthy start.
giving that back close to the number of carries other starters get.

The real villain in all of this and he should also go at the end of the year is tannebaum. The guy misread the o-line, the lbs and the draft. This is the guy who set the not-jets back by drafting sanchez.He has not helped the team at all by drafting parker, and letting clay walk and bringing in camorron. You know he had something to do with not dumping philbin after last year. The guy was a cap guy that the jets made a gm.

Do we know if Tannenbaum wanted Philbin or was he overruled by Ross? Either way he's not going anywhere he did have some success in New York with two AFC title games and some good drafts. Agree on this years draft I wanted Marcus Peters round one and there are some really questionable later picks. Not a good grade yet I would give Parker time though.

Since buying the Dolphins, Ross managed to jettison Bill Parcels, who while not in the same league as Shula, did manage to win two Super Bowls during his career and also hand the Dolphins' owner who hired him, the last AFC East Champions team.
Ross then keeps Ireland and together they plot, in a failed attempt, to bring in Jim Harbaugh in what ultimately plays out as a fiasco and insult to existing coach, Sparano.
He then passes over interim coach Todd Bowles, but signs Joe Philbin who manages to win 42% of his games in a little over three years. He now fires Philbin and hands over the team to a position coach who has never had significant coaching experience.
On the plus side, he has also brought in Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams, as minority owners of the team.
Anyone else see a pattern?

Pretty pathetic actually, when one considers, not counting Todd Bowles three games, that for the last ELEVEN years the combined, averaged winning percentage of the five HC's the franchise has had is a miserable .378%.
Wannstedt at the least produced .575% and a Division Championship. Something that Jimmy Johnson couldn't even do during his three years just before Dave.
One has to go back to Shula and his regular delivery of champion-caliber teams during his 25 years ending in 1995.
Folks, that's just TWO wimpy, freaking AFC Championship titles that amounted to nothing during these past 21 years and going back to 1994!!!!!!

How many times did they tell an all pro player who was instrumental in their performance as a team during his tenure to hit the bricks? Um.

How many times have they circled the wagons and stood alone against the world when one of their own has gotten in trouble. Um.

Well we already knew Tannehill was a loser in terms of throwing ability, guess now we know he has the brain to match his arm.
They'd save $1M by cutting him after the season ($9M salary versus $8M penalty), they should take a hard look at that before his salary balloons to $17M in two years.
Can't win with him and they damn sure can't bring in competition while he's here, dude's too mentally weak to deal with that.

Agree completely with your statement, Kazaam. By any cost benefit analysis they should trade him or cut him. It is crystal clear that he's not the quarterback that you need to win a championship. The average career in the NFL lasts 3.5 years. Tan has already been given more than enough chances to demonstrate that he's a championship caliber quarterback. The next 12 games should be his last hurrah with the Dolphins. Either he raises his game to elite level somehow and proves that he's worthy of the contract and more importantly for the Dolphins to spend a few more seasons with him at the helm or they dump him like Kaz said.
I won't hold my breath that he will play better or that the organization would be willing to give up on him after this year even if he plays as badly as he's played since he's been at Miami.
Yea, I know, BB, he has a great completion percentage....and he hasn't gotten hurt.

Enough with the negative ways boys. Today is a good day to start over. We got rid of Philbin and that's great. Who knows if this guy Campbell who has never coached a game as a head coach in the NFL comes in and he's a fucking natural. He has what it takes and we find a guy who will coach this team for the next 15 years and win a few championships. Stranger things have happened. He won't be the first assistant to come out of the blue and become a great head coach.
I'm giving my full support to Coach Campbell and I wish him well. I would rather start 11 stiffs who are vastly inferior to the team that I'm playing but give it everything they have for 60 minute just like Landry did on Sunday than line up with a 77 million dollar and a 100 million dollar loser who's not all in to give it every thing they have.

I'm going to go on record right here that the Miami Dolphins are already a better team today at 3:27 PM Pacific Daylight Savings time with Coach Campbell than we were at 8:00 AM today when Philbin was the head coach of this team. So far, from what I heard and saw in the press conference, they couldn't have picked a better guy from the assistants in place to head this team. I like the cut of his jib. Now this is a Woodcock type guy not some wishy washy mofo like Stan Laurel Philbin
So far I like the first few hours of the Campbell era at Miami.
I'm backing "Coach Soup" 100%

Yeah that would send a great message to the team bring in competition saying our franchise qb really isn't the guy. Higher QB rating than Joe Flacco last year.

FZB and Woodcock (thru a PM I sent) will corroborate what I said regarding Tanny a DAY before this story broke: That he's damaged psychologically, mainly by Lazor, and the shitty O-Line, thanks to the FO, and that pig Tannenbaum.
I also said Philbin would be gone, and possibly both Coyle and Lazor.
OC, I admit to # 1, #2, and due to the shitty O-Line, #3, as I agree with David the communist that the balance sucks. it's much easier to run block, so there's no excuse not running on the 4 yard line, for instance.
Lazor is the cancer. I say that due to his former relationship with that scumbag Chip Kelly. I said Kelly was a scumbag 3 years ago when he was hired by the Eagles. Lazor, like Kelly has disdain for players, thinking THEY are the center of the action.
I believe Philbin was LIKED, but not respected by players due to his inability to stand up to his OC and DC. If the "Tanny was protected by Joe" story is true, that's further cause for player grumblings. You hope it's not a racial thing.
As far as the story regarding Campbell and gays, he was a kid, a TEXAN (something a couple of wusses here wouldn't understand) and an athlete, which makes it all pretty normal for those times, and that school, which is military based.

It's all on the people that Ross has hired to run this team. Donna Aponte? Really? Philbin? Mike Tanenbaum from the hated Jets? Really, this is who we're going to war with ?
You know this guy Campbell is the most surprising name to be coaching an NFL franchise in the last 20 or so years. Tight ends coach? Leftover from the Tony S. regime? Everything says that he's just a caretaker running out the string. But if they say what the fuck and let him go ape shit and do what he wants and we're back on the first day of high school football for these guys their freshman year and no one has made the team and he can get these fucks to play hard and at least go 500 the rest of the way and be in every game and have the opponents say, "Man I don't want to play those guys again." then the season can be a resounding success. This is about Bear Bryant's first camp at Texas A&M, time to separate the wheat from chaff and move on.

Based on last season's 92 qb rtg I have to assume he is the franchise qb. It's possible he needs better coaching but it's not even close to start thinking new qb yet.

I can tell you from experience that the best personality type to improve a team when they are down in the dumps is a good old kick in the ass authoritarian mother fucker. See Vince Lombardi, Don Shula, Mike Ditka, and if you have time Netflix the movie Patton.

NONE of this today won't mean a damn thing if, come February 2016 Tannenbaum is still running things, Lazor and Coyle aren't gone...same with that little easel QB coach, son-in-law of Mike Sherman. Tannehill may have to have a salary restructure to open some cap space, though that would be more a 2017 thing. The Dolphins MUST trade up from the #10 spot they'll most likely have to get the best LT in the draft, draft a Middle LB, a guard, and a corner in rounds 1-4, trade Moore, and draft a QB in round 4 or 4 (they need to acquire picks somehow.
OH YEAH...hire a REAL HC. Not Pagano, whose teams suck in big games. Forget the big ex coaches. They ain't leaving TV for Miami. I doubt JIM Harbaugh would leave Michigan, even for 7-8 million a year. But if Steve Ross makes this decision without a REAL NFL brain assisting him, then it's Philbin pt 2.
