OC Dolphin

I think I’m able to do all this packing stuff at 64 due to my daily consumption of dragon energy.

Big Baby

Yes an OC hockey mention.

1967 and counting for the Leafs shadow. Good game their time is coming.

Jimbo

I would like to see Miami trade back 4 or 5 spots and obtain an additional 2nd round pick. Best player available? NFL speak for "we have no idea". Positions of need are: TE, RB, LB (x2), DT, K.

DT? You just let a top 3 DT leave because his salary didn't result in WINS. Not first round. Later round DT.
RB? Unless Barkley is there at 11, RB will not be the Fins choice. Later round RB.
TE? Not at 11. 2nd round very possible. I like the Penn St kid.
LB? Most likely either Smith or Edmunds if they are there.
K? Miami has 2 4th round picks, no 5th rounder. My guess is a K in the 4th or later.
QB? yes, very possible if one of the top 4 fall to them. Could be Lamar Jackson too. Tannehill needs to either WIN the job or be replaced. Miami needs new blood at QB. Not Cutler, not Kap, nor any other recycled underperforming vet.
DB? not a position of need but a ball hawking safety or cornerback.

OC Dolphin

Jimbo,

Even though I think they’ll go with a LB, S or DT at #11 I would like to see them take QB Rosen.

The Dolphins need to have a fearful each Sunday QB like they had with Marino before any other position.

Perhaps even more so now. The Jets traded to #3 to get a top QB. The Bills will I think soon trade to do the same and that guy Brady is still around. So if they do nothing, the Dolphins may have the worst of the lot at the most important position.

Big Baby

They have DT's all over the place even without Suh. Hard for me to believe he was a top 3 DT either. Take the best player available that seems to be the best strategy. If they are sold on a QB then take one. Not Lamar Jackson who will never have the accuracy to be a good NFL QB.

Big Baby

Tremaine Edmunds looks like the best LB in the draft. Maybe better than Smith his size worries me.

Big Baby

Josh Allen will fall after racist tweets recently surfaced.

Big Baby

OC to think any of these rookies will step in year one and be better than Tannehill is possible but not likely.

OC Dolphin

I’m fine seeing five QBs go within the first 10 picks. It just means we potentially get the sixths best player.

Fzb3346

Draft night !

All the experts are predicting a bunch of QB's in the top ten...hhmmmm , hopefully that happens and we can get a stud defensive player..

However the lastest rumors have Josh Rosen falling all the way to the Dolphins AND the Dolphins taking him, interesting , if that's the case and the Dolphins really think he's a difference maker then I support the move.

Im feeling better about the O Line this year, I think we have some good pieces now...we'll see.

My prediction ?... I think the Bama CB Fitzpatrick falls to us...the guy is a stud..

Fzb3346

How bout Rosen is there and a team drafting in the 20's calls with a big offer...Ill do it, we need to plug a bunch of holes...its gonna be fun.

Big Baby

OC I will bet you a million dollars 5 QB's don't go Top 10.

OC Dolphin

That leaves the door open for Miami to get Rosen: will they do it?

the shadow knows

Mr. Woodcock,

left you a post on the previous blog. stated that i don't think QB is the dolphins' biggest need, but they might take the ""the beak" that played for the bruins last year. then ole shadow thinks lamar jackson is a better player tham josh rosen; we shall see who the dolphins think has more upside (read talent).

Fzb3346

Wow Rosen is going to be there for the Dolphins, very interesting dilema for the Dolphins...if the Dolphins have a major conviction on the guy I say get him...

OC Dolphin

Arizona just moved in to take Rosen.

OC Dolphin

Which means that Miami takes D. Will it be LB or S?

OC Dolphin

BB, you almost lost $1M.

OC Dolphin

I love the pick.

Fzb3346

Told u all... the Alibami DB...kid's a great player, put him at free safety and put McDonald as a LB on pass defense...heck of a pick.

OC Dolphin

If you go by the prospect talent rating, we just drafted the #5 overall. Not bad.

the shadow knows

ARE THE SAINTS GONNA TAKE LAMAR JACKSON?

they moved up and drew brees is getting older as we speak. the dolphins were done a favor by the cardinals who took "the beak" and saved the dolphins from taking rosen. now the saints are in need of a QB and lamar jackson is available. they need to take him.

Big Baby

Nice call FZ. Looks like a can't miss pick. Nick Saban almost cries when he talks about him? That sounds like a good sign. If they can keep McDonald in the mix like you said great.

the shadow knows

SAINTS PASS ON LAMAR JACKSON....

what is a DE gonna do for a team thats defense is its offense?

OC Dolphin

Damn, the Bills are getting it done. edmunds was who I thought we would pick.

Great big players are more rare than great small players.

Our division is going to be one of the toughest. I really liked this Edmunds guy.

OC Dolphin

No TE’ns off the board yet,

OC Dolphin

...or Wideouts, for that matter.

Mr. Woodcock

The Dolphins get fucked again in the draft. The Raiders trade down with Arizona and they pick the almost Jewish Rifle with the pick before Miami's.

Yea, they picked up a safety from Alabama. Hell, they could have had a better safety from LSU in the third round a few years ago when they passed on the Honey Badger.

Not good.

And to make things worse Buffalo and the Jets load up at QB.

And what do we have to look forward to this season? Ryan Tannehill.

"Ryan Tannehill, who the hell is Ryan Tannehill?"

Don Shula

Mr. Woodcock

And with the first pick the Dolphins select a safety!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Worse pick since Miami burned a 5th rounder on that kicker from Florida.

Mr. Woodcock

Even if this kid had more interceptions this year than Emllen Tunnell and set a record it would still pale in comparison to the number of touchdown passess that the Rifle would have thrown as Miami's starting quarterback during the next ten years.

"Oh the horror."

As my friend Russ Banducci, son of NFL legend Bruno Banducci, and All American starter at guard during Gary Beban's Rose Bowl winning football team used to tell me, "After quarterback give me a big ugly over a little guy any day of he week."

Every time that I used to tell him that the Canes signed some 6-2 210 pound back he would shrug his shoulders and say, "that's nice."

Mr. Woodcock

They better step up and sign that one armed kid with the next pick. Even if he sucks and can't get on the field at least he can stick his arm up Tannehill's ass to wake him the fuck up when we're trailing by three touchdowns in the first quarter against the Jets.

Mr. Woodcock

This team is a fucking nightmare.

You could have had a scenario where the Jets, Bills, and the Dolphins all drafted elite quarterbacks setting the stage for a great competition for the next ten years, but nooooooooo.

I hate the fucking Raiders.

Mr. Woodcock

Luckily I didn't see any of it as I was then sheets to the wind last night as the honored guest at my retirement party. I did hear that Mayfield was the first pick but by that time OC I was halfway down on the Jaime that I filled the "Don't Mess With Texas" flask that you gave me and I had just finished my third margarita.

I'm glad I didn't find out about the draft results until this morning.

On a day like this I will be drowning my draft sorrows on the Strand looking at the incredible talent that's sprouting in string bikinis across the golden sands of Hermosa and Manhattan.

Fuck you Raiders.

Mr. Woodcock

Article in the Herald:

"Dolphins needed boldness but played it safe and got their pockets picked - twice!"

Big Baby

Wonder if they would have taken Rosen at 11. Tannehill should get one more year if he bombs then onto the next draft. Roster seems improved and just think we have the Brock Star backing him up just in case. Oh Boy.

OC Dolphin

No reason to think that they will stray off their shopping list. Talented secondary guy? Check. Pass catching TE? Check. Fast LB? Check.

These selections may not be sexy, but they do address needs that left unresolved would continue to hold back the team.

What’s left on that list? OL, DT, QB, RB.

Bank on it.

Mr. Woodcock

They didn't even draft the best safety in the draft. San Diegondid when they drafted FSU'sFSU' s Derwin James.

Oh the horror.

OC Dolphin

James is a SS. They already have one of those in Reshad Jones. They wanted a more Swiss Army DB who can play multiple spots in the secondary.

OC Dolphin

Don’t worry, Woodcock. They still have five more opportunities to draft a Kicker. Hahahaha...

OC Dolphin

...as for the QB, don’t worry about it. I have it on good intel that with the 131st pick they at drafting 5’-10” Quinton Flowers, QB from SFLA. He is going to blossom.

OC Dolphin

Well, that’s all folks! How fitting that just to please Mr. Woodcock, they select a Kicker with their last pick. Let’s not overlook the undersized, white Linebacker from...whait for it...whait for it...Gomer, Ohio. Yikes!

Two DBs, Two, TEs, Two LBs. is someone cross eyed in that draft room?

They drafted a TE that can catch every pass thrown to him - BUT - who can’t run block. Then go out and get a second TE. This one thinks he’s a blocking lineman - BUT - can’t catch a cold. Are they planning on stuffing them into one uniform? Clearly every defense the Dolphins play will know exactly if it’s a running play or a pass purely by which TE lines up. Duh. 🙄

Fzb3346

Liking the draft a lot, solid players with a lot of speed , the defense and the offense got better today...

Could it be the Dolphins are finally turning the page on bad drafts?... We can only hope..A couple of negatives, no DT , no O Linemen drafted WTF ?

Fzb3346

Who's the stiff kicker we drafted?

Mr. Woodcock

AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHH ANOTHER FUCKING KICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER HORSESHIT DRAFT.

THE MIAMI DOLPHINS ARE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE LEAGUE. HELL, THEY MAY JUST AS WELLCHANGE THE UNIFORMS COLOR TO PUSSY PINK.

WE SUCK DONKEY DICKS.

TWO TIGHT ENDS, A SAFETY, TWO UNDERSIZED LINEBACKERS, A HORSESHIT RUNNING BACK AND FLOTSAM. NOT ONE SINGLE IMPACT PLAYER OR ANYONE WITH A REMOTE CHANCE OF BEING A STAR IN THIS LEAGUE.

OH THE HORROR.

WE HAVE NOW HIT ROCK BOTTOM. HELL, THE DOLPHINS HAVE BECOME THE EQUIVELANT OF THE PHOTOGRAPH OF FLOUNDER IN ANIMAK HOUSE IN THE SCNEWHERE AS SOON AS HIS PICTURE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN 50 BEER CANS AND BOTTLES WERE THROWN AT IT.

THE MIAMI DOLPHINS ARE NOW KNOWN AROUND LESGUE AS THE MIAMI FLOUNDERS.

JUST SAY IT AIN'T SO.

the shadow knows

YAY CAPITALS!!!!!

rooting for the caps cause their coach has his job gone if he loses to the penguins three times running. the hockey has been amazing-seems every match has a score within the first two minutes.

the shadow knows

YAHOO IS WITH YOU ON "THE BEAK", Mr. Woodcock!!!!

they lamented that oakland screwed up the dolphins' chance to take "the beak" by trading the 10th pick to arizona. however, the writer was very thumbs up on minka fitzpatrick. all the dolphins need is a healthy tannehill and they will be in a division with an aging all-timer, and two teams with raw QBs in darnold and josh allen. they have a rough schedule which might really be painful, a tougher hurdle than the other teams on their division. the ole shadow believes an amendola less NE will be not the same power, unless braxton berries does turn into the second coming of wes welker.

Big Baby

shadow the division plays the same schedule except for 2 games.

The nhl playoff format is terrible. Washington should not be playing Pittsburgh again. Toronto should have had home ice advantage considering where they finished and they shouldn't have drawn Boston. I think pitt had home ice as a 5 seed. Tampa and Boston finished with the most points in the East. They shouldn;t be meeting in the quarterfinals one would conclude. Toronto might still be playing if not for this "new" format.

Good to see you cheering for the Black and Gold. They steam rolled my second fave Lightning yesterday but they are tough. Four lines with scoring up and down the lineup.

the shadow knows

YES, OC- THE STANLEY CUP IS BETTER THAN THE OSCARS!!!!

tremendous game between nashville and winnipeg. glad that the caps won, ditto the predators. tomorrow boston and tampa and las vegas and the sharks, with that big ugly defenseman missing his front teeth; he could scare guys off the puck!!

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

as you will recall, the 69-70 bruins got me into hockey, even watching on a small screen black and white TV i my dorm room. it must be tough when your two favorite teams go against each other.

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

watched the whole predators game-extremely exciting tussle. however, i find it disgusting that wherever p.k. subban is on the road, the fans boo him incessantly methinks primarily because he is dark. he is a great player, a gentleman, and one who does not deserve the booing he gets outside of nashville. if you have another theory as to why he gets booed non-stop on the road let me know. i remember before he went to the kings, gretzky was also the victim of derision from the fans-but methinks that was because edmonton was dominating the league. when he went to the kings, all those boos turned to cheers in a hurry.

Big Baby

Was that Post dead shadow? I remember listening to them on vinyl growing up. Midnight Moonlight and Panama Red great. Bruins drop a close one but got the road split.

Mr. Woodcock

Somewhere somehow Dapper Dave is getting the raspberries from Celltic fans.

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

concurrent with the dead-from about 73-74. great group-vassal clematis and david grisman virtuosos on fiddle and mandolin, peter rowan very good vocalist, and of garcia picking up another high pitch stringed instrument. he went into seclusion to learn the chops on banjo he stated. whatever instrument he touched produced beautiful music. the new riders in the garcia era were downright awesome!!! he just loved that pedal steel!!

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

where did ben bishop wander off to? he was their man the last few years but the new rusk is up the the vezina award. huge game 3 in pittsburgh tonight; want the capitals to win this series and save barry trotz's job.

Big Baby

These Sixers are so trash. Not like the great 83 team. Embiid and Simmons are complete punks. It's going to be fun watching Boston kick their asses up and down the court for the next 5 years.

Jimbo

Golden State or Houston?
Toronto or Cleveland?

Jimbo

Rosen is a golden boy athlete. He doesn't need football. Problem is he acts like a petulant child. This one guy who is thrilled Miami didn't take the Beak at face value....

Jimbo

Fitzpatrick was in the top 5 talent wise. The guy is listed as a safety. He is big & strong enough to play strong safety. Has the speed and football IQ to play free safety. That is his spot to lose. He can also play cornerback. Any DB position & play it well. Slightly surprised he was on the board at that pick. NFL O's run more 3 WR, 1 RB, 1 TE formations as the norm. Dolphins have a talented group of young corners and 2 strong safeties (Jones & McDonald) in their prime.

2 TE's. Gesicki is a rookie version of Jimmy Graham. Smythe is a rookie version of Fasano. Graham & Fasano. Not a bad combo to have on your roster. Gase's O relies on TE production and his O has been disappointingly handicapped by Jordan Cameron & Julius Thomas.
RB Ballage produced well with shared backfield duties at AZ State. Good skills running and is solid pass blocking, receiving.
DT. One guy short. Miami will have $17 additional cap money June 1st. I expect Miami will grab a veteran DT.
QB. IMO Miami might surprise and grab a QB that will be available after June 1st.
Dolphins have a few new LB's that are young, fast & athletic. Add in last year's 2nd round pick McMillan who is a healthy return from knee surgery. Stephone Anthony was obtained at the trade deadline from N.O. and showed promise in limited action. IMO he would have started but Miami had too much $$ tied up in Timmons to have him sit.
This should be the best O line Tannehill has played with.

Lastly. Gase-Grier are giving Tannehill his last chance. No excuses. Produce this year or you're gone.

Mr. Woodcock

Oh boy!

Mr. Woodcock

Is Dapper Dave voluntarily gone or did you block him, OC?

Big Baby

Josh Rosen = Punchable face.

Big Baby

Jimbo they have Phillips, Godchaux and William Hayes to play defensive tackle.

They are rolling with Osweiller and Fales I would be surprised if they added a QB. Both are "decent options".

Big Baby

Gesicki looks like a beast let's hope he solves our TE problems. Haven't had a TE since Keith Jackson really.

Big Baby

A few "one hit" wonders nothing more.

the shadow knows

Jimbo,

glad you have adopted "the beak" as a reference to josh rosen. maybe it will catch on national-wide; no rights reserved, free for all to use.

the shadow knows

6 GAMES!!!!

Mr. Woodock, i don't gamble but would take the over, bills and NYJ are playing with raw QBs and should be beatable if tannehill returns to form. 6 GAMES-what an insult, but not far from last year's 7-9.

the shadow knows

NO OUTSTANDING COLTS IN THIS YEAR'S DERBY!!!!!

the shadow knows

1983 DERBY WINNER: SUNNY"S HALO

the shadow knows

Mr. Woodcock,

if one entrant doesn't wire the field, solomini has the ability to stay with the pack and move in the stretch. like i said, i haven't seen the past performances of this year's bunch, and i certainly don't hold beyer ratings to the importance that others do. your friend jimmy can tell you the old axiom "you don't race against time, you race against horses". if solomini is somewhat near the leaders and doesn't get blocked, his past few races have shown he has some kick in the stretch. wouldn't know where to buy the derby edition of the form, which would give me a truer picture of the colts in the run for the roses

Big Baby

shadow- I saw the highlights of that game Nahville might be in trouble. They are still a very good team. It appears Ben Bishop is now a Dallas Star maybe their new starter. That Wash/ Pitt game was exciting they still shouldn;t be meeting again though. The NHL needs to address this.

Big Baby

what did you think of that hit? Barry said no big deal and Mike Sullivan was steaming. They didn't call a penalty and he's likely done for the year. It was close but probably dirty.

Big Baby

Celtics/ Sixers tonight. If Philly can't beat Boston minus Irving and Hayward their future is less than hopeful. Celtics play hard and still have a good amount of talent left. Brad Stevens is one incredible coach.

Big Baby

Sorry game is tomorrow night. I forgot they are taking 3 days between game 1 and 2.

Mr. Woodcock

Shad, from my friend Jimmy.

" I think he is partially right IF solimini is an “E" horse who can get to the first 4 spots at the first turn without exhausting himself.
but he is way way outside in post position 17 and to avoid getting shuffled back in the first run, he’ll have to run around 7 (!) front runners.
his post is the picador bully that will exhaust him..."

the shadow knows

Mr. Woodcock,

1 1/4 miles is distance enough to let the action occur ahead of him and settle in while all those others arte fighting it out. didn't know that los alamitos enlarged the track to a mile to accommodate the racing dates that went with the demolition of hollywood park. saw where one of the contenders won a grade 1 race at los alamitos!!! use to love the orange county fair tweet which coincided with the dates at del mar- racing all day long with a quick trip up the 405 to get to los al.m ;loved handicapping the thoroughbreds running on a 5/8 mile track. when gary stevens first came up i took a real liking to the hid from idaho and actually cashed a ticket close to $190 on one off his winners at los alamitos, before ehe became a regular at hollywood and santa anita and became one of the top 10 jocks of all-time.

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

3 games not in uniform for tom wilson is not gonna be a good thing for the capitals. it was a vicious hit, but shoulder to shoulder with tangential contact to the head. a shame that the guy has a broken jaw and is toast for this year. the games have been ultra good and the run for the stanley cup is always, or most always, the best of pro sports' playoffs. tom bad pedro and the incredible bobby orr had to sit through a loss last night. 20 years in the league for martin landau? that is impressive. love to see the old clips with no helmets, but without them there wouldn't be the hard checking that makes for a great watch.

Big Baby

Second 3 HR game for Mookie Betts this season. He is the best outfielder in the league besides maybe Mike Trout. Hope the Red Sox are getting the checkbook ready he's only 25.
