oye meng..my boy Tanny has the rm he just doesn't have the touch..yet.

Big Baby

Others have said Mike Wallace is the fastest WR in the league as well I think. No time like this weekend to unleash a couple deep balls to him(and actually connect!)

Signing Giancarlo won't matter unless fans start showing up to games win or lose. Being 27th in attendance will not help build rosters.

Interesting you put Fab Freddie so high on your list OC most people don't think of him that way but he was very charismatic and talented.

OC Dolphin

BB, the "best front man" question is totally subjective. There are lots of elements that go into it, things like: charisma, stage presence, vocal quality and distinctiveness, songcraft, to name a few. To me,it's mainly two things -- vocal quality and stage presence, but there's a lot to be said for group duration. That's why Jagger has to be wayyyy up there.

OC Dolphin

1. Lizard King
2. Robert Plant
3. Bono

Fzb3346

1-Freddie Mercury

2-Jim Morrison

3-Mick Jagger..

honorable mention:

James Bond because of all that pussy he always got, that guy is my hero.

OC Dolphin

:)Good one, FZ.

Big Baby

No Sir Paul FZ? I am shocked must be a mistake.

OC Dolphin

Hey, our 61st's are less than 2 & 3 weeks away!

OC Dolphin

Very good voice quality, but he was not a singular act with the Beatles. Wings, heh...11 years were okay, but I don't consider him a front man.

Big Baby

John Lennon was a great musician and very talented on his own merits. Make no mistake though Paul McCartney was the lead singer of the Beatles.

Big Baby

That's like saying Paul Stanley isn't the lead singer of Kiss because the others could sing.

Big Baby

I might put Paul Stanley on my list.

OC Dolphin

I was thinking of George and Ringo.

Big Baby

Think whomever you want Paul is the lead singer.

OC Dolphin

Hey, it's your selection, not mine.

Big Baby

I was talking about McCartney in this case should have said his last name. Not sure why anyone would not consider Paul McCartney to be a lead singer. Think what you want about him (lol miss duke) but he was and a darn good one.

Big Baby

Brilliant songwriter as well. Maybe I will put McCartney on my list. He should be on any Top 5 on talent alone.

Big Baby

No lead singers are "singular acts" OC.

OC Dolphin

I'll give him Wings, but for my money, McCartney was not a front man, in the pure sense of the expression. Much the same, but opposite someone like David Bowie who was not a front man either. A front man is unmistakeable in a group. No one else sings in the group. The mere question of whether it was Paul or John is reason alone (under my definition) to omit him as a lead singer.

Big Baby

I like your Bono selection OC his stage presence is incredible especially in the early days mid early mid 80's and early 90's. Early 80's live shows were off the hook check some out some if you haven't (sounds like you have).

Big Baby

If by definition no one else sings then eliminate Jagger because of Keith Richards.

OC Dolphin

add the words - ...no one else(for the most part)sings...

Fzb3346

nah..no sir Paul..I agree with OC on this one.

I know some of you don't like him too much but Bruce Springsteen is pretty good too.

OC Dolphin

I can't wait to see who shadow selects and the reasons why. Although I get the notion it may take some time for him to make an appearance here, based on the unspeakable tragedy that occurred yesterday in Jerusalem. My thoughts are with you and your people, shadow.

Big Baby

Daltrey cannot be considered under your criteria OC.

Big Baby

Neither can Waters or Gilmour or Simon LeBon for that matter.

Big Baby

I know this is just for fun but you got me fired up about that McCartney exclusion.

OC Dolphin

No one is off a criteria -- if you can sell it, go for it. That's kind of why in MY criteria, Mr. Eastman is not a photofinish.

Big Baby

With apologies to OC and FZB.

Elvis Presley
Paul McCartney
Steven Tyler

OC Dolphin

I'll put a "best singer" category sometime in the future, BB. Your two top selections will be popular.

Big Baby

you just said no one is off criteria.

Big Baby

It's not a list without The King.

OC Dolphin

Who were the other three or four members of the King's band?

Big Baby

Does it matter? They guy playing the stand up bass that guy playing drums Dicky. He could front a high school band and be the best.

Big Baby

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP5p2IbUVWc

Big Baby

A little more info

http://tcbband.elvis.com.au/

Fzb3346

BB seems to be a bit confused here, Elvis was not part of a band and sir Paul shared top billing with the late great John Lennon..

Big Baby

Read above FZB. You're dead wrong.

Fzb3346

well it seems like Obi is intent on committing presidential hara-kiri.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/11/19/obama-to-announce-executive-action-on-immigration-thursday-in-primetime-speech/

fuck U Obi..U asswipe.

Big Baby

Y'all can disagree with my selection but don't tell me Elvis didn't play in a band.

OC Dolphin

Hey, how about that 'lead singer' in row 497f (field level), seat 980?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iw4PS4HO2Dw

the shadow knows

OC Dolphin

"front man" to me connotes a singer who never/rarely plays an instrument. i don't use the term often, but under the "he doesn't have much input musically on stage" i would say a toss-up between mick jagger, roger daltey, and jim morrison. thanx for your concern for my brethren (our brethren as they had dual citizenship) under siege in the Holy Land. a lot of tears shed recently in j'lem.

the shadow knows

fellers,

at the end of his career, elvis' band became the core of emmylou harris' "the hot band"- james burton on guitar, john ware (emmylou called him "the shuffle king", and the fellow whosename i forget who wrote "the queen of hearts" that dave edmunds did. just remembered- emory gordy. they truly were a hot band, and rickey skaggs might have been in the mix; same for the incredible albert lee: sample his incredible signature song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjSN6V6CpXM

done when he was with head, hands, and feet

Mr. Woodcock

I think that the three guys that OC put up there all stink.

Mr. Woodcock

I can't understand a fucking word that Mick Jagger says even if I'm reading the lyrics while he sings.

Jimbo

Most of you know me as a huge Stones fan. Mick first in my book. Jagger doesn't have the voice of Mercury or Bowie but fits their style. McCartney is the better song writer, but some of Beatles best was written by Lenon or cowrote anyway.

Eagles Henley & Fry wrote, sang, played some of the best American rock era music.

Love Zeppelin, U2, and too many to list.

Mr. Woodcock

He couldn't carry Marvin Gaye's microphone up to the stage.

Mr. Woodcock

Forget Marvin Gaye, hell, he is probably a worse musician than Marvin Hamlish.....

Jimbo

After the mayhem in Jerusalem yesterday I start to post something but refrained because the PC police would have been knocking my door down. My prayers go out to your slain brothers Shadow. Can't imagine having the restrain like Isreal has shown while dealing with verminous louts.

Mr. Woodcock

Mick Jagger doesn't have the musical talent to clean the toilets at Frank Sinatra's guest house......

Mr. Woodcock

Well said, Jimbo.

Jimbo

Thanks Woodcock. We differ on opinion of Jagger. Not your taste, I understand that but the man has made a fortune. Gots to respect the $.

TIME TO GO "UNDER THE HOOD" FOR ANOTHER LOOK:

while consuming my dinner (bbq-ed flanken (short ribs of beef), i recalled that it was a different member of emmylou's band that wrote "queen of hearts"- hank de vito, her pedal steel player from NYC. when emmylou introduced him, she used to say "hank de vito from new york city- HE GOT OUT JUST IN TIME!" she had a lovely voice, picked great tunes to sing-can't listen to "from boulder to birmingham" w/o a tear or two (her paean to gram parsons). she really had a hot band in the early days before they went on to stardom;

http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=24959

hank de vito it was

Mr. Woodcock

OC, You notice that I'm not even talking about the other two guys that you put on that list, that Freddy guy and the guy from Led.

I know the reason that you like and put that Freddy guy up on your list is that he reminds you of your Coral Park teammate "Fig" Figuereiro, so I understand why you put Freddy up there, but I really don't get Robert Plant. Bro, with Jimmy Page and John Bohner even you could scream on stage for 2 hours and make 900 million.

Jimbo

For $900 mil I'd even pimp out Naples Jack to blow you on stage. You're welcome

Mr. Woodcock

The day at the Coral Park pep rally that "Fig" ran into the pummel horse was more entertaining than all of Freddy Mercury's stage performances combined.

the shadow knows

Jimbo,

i'll post it and see what happens:

the arabs are heinous, murderous butchers (they did use cleavers on the group they massacred during prayers tuesday morning) and the world would be better off without them. haven't contributed anything to the civilized world, except, as one of the writers for the american spectator wrote, "the use of wheel nuts as shrapnel" in their bombs and other explosive devices with which they target busses and other civilian locations. f**k 'em all!!! and the sooner the better.

Fzb3346

I nominate Beny More on behalf of my friend Woody..

yeah boy...

the shadow knows

Mr. Woodcock,

i am not a big led zeppelin fan, not even a little led zeppelin fan. past "communication breakdown" and "livin' lovin' maid" they to me are garbahj!!! and "stairway to heaven'!!! i cringe at the thought of or the hearing of the first few notes, let alone that torturous however many minutes it goes on for.

Fzb3346

the Zep?...love them, sorry Shad..

Mr. Woodcock

FZ @ 6:31 PM....Post of the day.

El Benny, won't be seeing his kind around any time soon.

Tremendo bravo.

"Oh, oh, Vida si pudieras...."

Fzb3346

here's a very good under rated great song by the Kinks...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFkYoT5Gezo

Mr. Woodcock

Oye, consorte, you want to leave the 305 for Jax. Bro, I've been to Jax you need some calmantes and to ask OC for the name of the shrink that said that we Cubans are suffering from "Refugee Syndrome."

No jodas, I wouldn't live in the 305 between the middle of May to November first unless I could walk around in one of those space suits that the Mercury astronauts wore with the portable ac unit. Pero during fall to spring it has most places in the U.S. beat by a country mile.

Mr. Woodcock

Yup, Obie is becoming the best thing that ever happened to the Republican Party.

Mañana with a stroke of the pen he's going to piss off 300 million Americans.

Que clase de nalga.

Mr. Woodcock

If I had to pay to go see one rock and roll act from the old school days today I would pay to go see Van Morrison.

Mr. Woodcock

Shadow, check this out.

http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-jimmy-ruffin-20141120-story.html

Fzb3346

Wood's...I don't necessarily want to leave the 305 but if my grandkids are there?... Well all bets are off...familia you know.

Mr. Woodcock

I know, bro. I just had such a great time on my vacation that I'm already having a severe case of 305 fever.

OC Dolphin

Jimbo @ 6:10p and shadow @ 6:28p. There's no pc police here. Have at it.

Big Baby

Woodcock giving credit to page and Bonham miracles will never cease. Plant was great watching some of their old live shows recently really brings thst out. So sad and petty to see them fight now and listen to plant try and sing (he can't any longer) in his terrible pet project bands. Dont criticize Arabs I did that once and david yelled at me.

Big Baby

I will keep waiting for woodcock to credit john paul Jones. Right after he tells us rock and roll is noise pollution.

the shadow knows

Mr. Woodcock,

jimmy ruffin really had that one major hit. it was a nice song, but not one of my favorites.

the shadow knows

FZB,

the kinks had many songs that flew under the radar, these being examples:

and this incredible ditty:

This one is one of my favorites shadow live.

Big Baby

FZB Zep is a mixed bag sometimes but no mistaking their greatness especially live. They could play a wide range of music blues rock etc. Maybe my favorite band growing up.

Big Baby

shadow you are correct though Led Zep II considered by many to be their finest album.

Big Baby

for shad.

Big Baby

Meant this.

OC Dolphin

I'm glad everyone is enjoying this music discussion. Front man notwithstanding, there must be literally thousands of songs and artists who created music that enriched us all. As for me, I must confess to having a special place for artists who were relevant during large blocks of time, if not decades.

All things considered, this is why these guys rate way up there and reside in the OC penthouse.

A hopeful plea to quench hatred goes out to those feeling the need to do evil in the aftermath of the Ferguson decision.

Big Baby

High praise for Fins D.

the shadow knows

Mr. Woodcock,

van the man was/is a great artist/songwriter, but had/has terrible stage fright and performs with his back to the crowd (maybe not anymore, but he did). "moondance" one of the absolute greatest albums ever-ao alll the great cuts, and they all were great, i go for this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XQAPHg3IFg

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

triple "yes" on "victoria". one of the reasons i loved communication breakdown was that, if i remember correctly, it was segued instantly after a beautiful little instrumental called "black mountain side (?) (something"). i can wholeheartedly believe that led zep I and II were terrific albums, but after that not for me.
here is my favorite kinks song that chareted just prior to the awesome summer of 65:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkBvsBpgGbo

what a tune!!! the incredible davies brothers and friends!!

Big Baby,

BB..very high praise for our D indeed...good to see, and we shouldn't forget that the majority of those players where acquired when my former son Ireland was running the team...nine out of eleven to be exact.

C Wake, R Starks, J Odrick, O Vernon, P Wheeler (the worst one), Koa Misi, J Jenkins, Brent Grimes, R Jones.

U boys need to give him some love..yeah I said it.

Big Baby

Must have heard that Kinks song dozens of times growing up. Never knew who sang it.

the shadow knows

Big Baby,

another of the five greatest:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS3ixmsQgCk

Big Baby

Wake, Starks, Odrick, Misi may have been Parcells doing FZ but it doesn't matter the results have been excellent. Even with "clueless" Kevin Coyle running things lol.

Big Baby

Triple yes shadow? Alrighty then!

Big Baby

I said it the other day FZ there are a fair number of Ireland contributors on this roster.

Big Baby

I give him credit for not missing on Tannehill. Kazaam told me it was a no brainer pick but I disagree he still could have blown it somehow.

Big Baby

Kazaam hated Ireland with the power of 1000 suns his opinion likely hasn't changed.

Big Baby

Moody Blues has a very unique sound shadow didn't know they sang that song either.

Fzb3346

Oohh I remember very well the "fights" Kaazam and Tom and others had with me when we picked Tannehill, most of them were saying we should had mortgage our future to go get RG-III..

I wonder if anyone would make that trade now, I for one rather have Tanny over RG-III, Tanny has improved every year and is still learning..

BB..on Coyle..my biggest beef with him is he seems slow to reacting on in game adjustments and is still playing D Jordan out of position...however he seems to be doing a better job as of late.

Big Baby

Where is Tom lately?

Jimbo

for every good move by Ireland you could count two misses. Jonathan Martin, Pat White, (to this day) Dion Jordan.

OC Dolphin

Tom is indisposed with an acute case of Auburnitis.

Big Baby

Pat White was all on Parcells.

OC Dolphin

Please, folks. Let's not resurrect the dead. Bad enough that Ireland fumbled through years with the Dolphins. Other organizations can spot a dummy much sooner.

A most telling quote from Wikipedia:

"Ireland's tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, however, was short-lived as the team decided to move on without him after only one month."
